    Wyoming Game and Fish Commission to discuss petition from local grassroots movement

    A petition to amend Chapter 4, Furbearing Animal Trapping Regulation submitted by local trapping reform advocacy group WY TRAP FREE-mont has been added to the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission’s meeting next week starting on March 19th, in Cody.

    The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission was not scheduled to review trapping regulations until 2022, according to statewide trapping reform organization Wyoming Untrapped who has been working with WY TRAP FREE-mont.

    The petition is number 14 on the agenda and will be presented to the Commission by Wyoming Game and Fish Department Wildlife Division Chief Rick King, according to the meeting’s agenda found here.

    Along with the petition, the commission will hear informational presentations and updates on several items including mule deer and pronghorn research, 2019 chronic wasting disease and Bighorn Basin and Bighorn Mountains brucellosis updates, 2020 winter conditions, the new Wildlife Crossing initiative, large carnivore monitoring, and more. A new president and vice president will also be elected.

    The public is invited and will have a chance to comment on each specific agenda item and can speak to the Commission about any matter.
