#RivertonBiz: New Chamber of Commerce executive director is excited about the future

#rivertonbiz, shares the stories of local movers and shakers of our Fremont County economy.

(Riverton, WY) – Janet Winslow began her role as the new Riverton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director at the end of July. She is excited to apply her knowledge as a business owner and community volunteer to this new endeavor.

“There are opportunities for the Chamber to help rejuvenate Riverton’s spirit,” she explained. “We are clawing our way out of COVID and between the Chamber and Ambassadors, we have two strong groups that can guide, help, and inspire businesses and communities.”

Being a business owner, she understands how precious an owners’ time is and how to help support them. Being able to connect with business owners and provide the information they need really opens up opportunities, she noted.

Janet is also passionate about the communities she lives in and volunteers her time whenever possible to organizations like Relay for Life Fremont County, the Riverton Ambassadors and the Downtowners, as well as the Riverton EDGE Committee to name a few.

She has a strong passion for youth and education; fostering that natural resource is important, she noted.

“If you really support the youth in our communities, they feel pride and commitment in the communities and they stay.”

She has plans to work with other Chambers around Fremont County to bring connectivity and make it possible for our businesses to serve everyone instead of just individual areas.

Right off the bat, reviving Riverton is her priority.

“Riverton has a ton of potential to do more and be more,” she said. “We are going to be the strong City we have been in the past, we have a generous community and we want to support that.”

She is also looking forward to working with the Chamber Board of Directors and having them being out and active in the community.

“Everyone needs to get back to work, and that’s what the Chamber is going to do,” she said.

The current Chamber Boards includes the following community members:

    • Kim Hummel – President
    • Bethany Baldes – Vice President
    • Herb Wilcox – Treasurer
    • Will Hill
    • Murray Ritland
    • Mark Evans
    • Jason Hawke
    • Michelle Luoma
    • Amanda Henry
    • Kristy Salisbury – City Liaison

Janet has invited the community to the Riverton Chamber of Commerce open house happening on Thursday, September 30th, from 2-5 pm at their new location, 111 1st Street.
