    RHS grad competes in NCAA Golf National Championship this weekend

    Riverton High School grad and current NC State senior Easton Paxton is competing in the NCAA Golf National Championships which begin today, May 28th in Scottsdale, Arizona.

    Easton is currently one of the top 100 players in the men’s collegiate rankings, according to Golf Week stats, and NC State is ranked 11th overall.

    This is the NC State men’s golf team’s nineteenth appearance in the NCAA Championship.

    The format of the tournament is 54-holes of stroke play Friday thru Sunday. After 54 holes, the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team advance to the final round of stroke play competition on Monday. After 72 holes, the top eight teams advance to match play the quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Tuesday and the national championship match will be on Wednesday.

    Thirty teams advanced from the NCAA Regionals to the NCAA Championships. 156 individuals will be competing for the NCAA individual title which will be awarded on Monday after 72 holes of stroke play competition.
