Horse Culture Program Coordinator Allison Sage brought three horses to the Maker Space 307 office in Riverton yesterday afternoon to teach kids with the local Big Brothers Big Sisters about the program.
Before the ride begins, everyone gathers in a circle where Sage says a prayer and asks everyone to introduce themselves and say how they are feeling. This is the first step in the program – learning how to express yourself.
Horse Culture is a Tribal Suicide Prevention Program that helps people of all ages learn how to express your feelings and not just say “I’m good” when asked how you are.
After riding, everyone gathers in a circle again to see if their mood improved, and maybe even a little more confidence is showing compared to when they first introduced themselves.
