    WDOC Women’s Center COVID status elevated to ‘red’ after recent surveillance testing

    (Cheyenne, WY) – On Monday May 2nd, the Wyoming Women’s Center Covid status was elevated to red, according to the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC).

    Last week the facility surveillance testing of 20% of staff and offenders resulted in 14 positive results (all offenders).

    The facility will conduct a 100% surveillance test on staff and offenders this week.

    The facility will comply with all requirements of the WDOC Covid Response Plan for Facilities.

    This includes, but may not be limited to, all facility visitation will be non-contact, all on-site entry screening will be reinitiated and masks wearing will be mandatory for all.

    Number of WDOC inmate deaths to date attributed to Covid-19 to date: 9

    Working with the Wyoming Department of Health (WDOH), all positive inmate cases are medically monitored and managed by the Department and our health care provider (Corizon Health, Inc.) in accordance with WDOH and CDC guidelines.

    The Department continues to conduct rigorous surveillance testing at all sites as necessary and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
