    Parker Paxton drops 28 in Riverton boys win over Grace, Idaho

    (Green River, WY) – Day two of the Flaming Gorge Tournament presented the Riverton varsity boys basketball team with its second Idaho challenger in as many nights.

    The Wolverines dispensed with Grace (Idaho) High School 51-32 Friday night, following a 66-37 win over Bear Lake (Idaho) Thursday.

    Friday night’s first quarter opened and ended with points from Riverton’s Parker Paxton.

    RHS was awarded free throws from a technical foul resulting from a Grace player wearing a jersey number different from the official roster. Paxton converted those two free throws. Later, another pair of free throws, a runner in the lane, and a last-second three-pointer from Paxton closed out Riverton’s 18-10 first quarter lead.

    Parker Paxton would score 17 points in the first half.

    Dre Monroe’s first field goal of the game opened Riverton’s second quarter scoring. The Wolverines tallied the first five points of the frame on the way to a 27-17 halftime lead.

    Riverton’s all-senior starting lineup accounted for seven of the second half’s first nine points. The Wolverines would close the third quarter up 42-21.

    RHS’s Parker Paxton led all scoring with 28 points prior to his participation in the tournament’s three-point shooting contest after the game. Dre Monroe added seven points, and Eli Lucas scored six.

    Grace continues tournament play tomorrow after falling to 3-4 overall.

    The Wolverines are now 4-2 on the season.
