    #Snapped: First-ever SPC History Hunt

Last weekend was the very first South Pass City History Hunt. This was thought up and organized by the SPC staff in about a month, shared Superintendant Joe Ellis.

The hunt sold out with a total of 4 teams. All of them, except for one, were families, Ellis shared with County 10.

While the hunt wrapped up a little earlier than expected due to impending weather, County 10 was able to catch up with two of the teams to see how the hunt went.

One of the teams we chatted with consisted of family members from Lander and Basin. The kiddos on the team shared their favorite part was “all the sugar” and “building a tent.” The adults all really enjoyed learning about the history of the area and the hands-on activities.

They all recommended the hunt and the kiddos gave one piece of advice, “Don’t wear white!”

The other team County 10 was able to catch up with was from Green River, and came out for the day to do the hunt. They were looking for something to do where they could socially distance. They also enjoyed the hunt quite a bit sharing they learned a lot about the history of South Pass and that there is more there than meets the eye.

Aside from area history, they “learned we are wimps compared to our ancestors.”

Congratulations to all the teams for making it through!

County 10 will keep you posted if more history hunts are planned for SPC!
