Progress being made toward new dialysis, diabetic facility in Riverton

(Riverton, WY) – The initial plan for temporary quarantine housing at the former Days Inn on Main Street has transitioned to building a dialysis and diabetic center operated by Wind River Family & Community Healthcare (Wind River Cares).

Demolition is currently underway and the new plans will be presented to the City of Riverton for approval in the very near future, if not already. The approval process takes about 45 days and once the green light is given construction can begin.

The facility, which is owned by the Northern Arapaho Tribe, will include a 10 chair dialysis clinic, a diabetic clinic -which includes a classroom setting for food demonstrations and kitchen as well as an exercise room, and a behavioral health area on the first floor.

The top floor will be a medical shelter for patients needing to rest after treatment before traveling. In addition, the option for COVID quarantine is still available on the top floor as well.

The goal of the center remains the same – to serve all community members.

County 10 will share updates as the renovation continues.
