Paws Pet of the Week: Meet Marley

Marley is a one-year-old Australian Kelpie mix.

Marley came to us from a hoarding situation where the owner surrendered her. She is timid and her first time coming inside a building was here. We found a wonderful foster for her that has patiently helped her become more of a dog. She is learning many new things.

Here is the latest update we have from her foster Mom:
“We have finished our obedience classes. She was quite timid in the class but has done well learning basic commands here at home. She was terrified the first time she went through the agility course but improved a lot after we completed it a few times. She seems comfortable here with us but still startles easily at unexpected noises. She likes to be in enclosed spaces…except for her dog house outside. We took her to the dog park in Lander last weekend and she was willing to come back to me when she was off-leash. She met another larger dog there and did fine with him. She also seemed fine walking up the dog’s male owner, although she’s still a bit wary of my husband. She’s good in her crate at night, although she has now started sleeping on the bed. She rides well in a vehicle. She is a quiet dog and rarely barks unless she’s defending her bone or toys. She is house trained. We agreed that her new home should have no children under 6. Noises terrify her.”

Marley is spayed and up to date on vaccinations.

Her foster Mom feels that Marley is confident enough to begin life with a new family; one that will love her and have the patience to help her keep going in the right direction that she needs to go.

Paws for Life Animal League in Riverton is by appointment only, so please call 857-6002 to schedule an appointment Tuesday through Saturday or message their Facebook page to meet her.
