    1st COVID-related inmate death reported by WDOC

    (Riverton, WY) – The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) has announced the first inmate death attributed to COVID-19.

    The WDOC Deputy Administrator of the Transparency Division Paul Martin confirmed today, January 25th that the inmate was assigned to the Wyoming Honor Farm in Riverton. He also confirmed their death did not occur at the facility, but in a hospital on December 22nd. No other information was released today.

    As of January 22nd, there are 14 confirmed positive COVID cases within all of the WDOC facilities.

    Thirteen (staff 3, inmates 10) of the cases are at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington. One inmate at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins has also tested positive.

    County 10 will share any additional information if released by authorities.
