    Sand Creek Fire grows to around 150 acres

    (Lander, WY) – The Sand Creek Fire has grown to approximately 150 acres since it began yesterday afternoon, according to an update from the office of the Shoshone National Forest at 4:15 pm on September 10th.

    The fire is located west of Lander in the Sand Creek drainage on the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest in the Wind River Range.

    Along with aerial resources to include a Type 1 helicopter, a Type 3 helicopter, and an air attack platform, two Forest Service engines and a Type 2 hand crew are now assisting in the firefighting efforts on the Sand Creek Fire. A Type 3 incident management team has been ordered and will arrive Saturday morning.

    The cause of the fire is still listed as “unknown.”
