(Sweetwater County, WY) – Riverton High School boys and girls basketball opened the annual Flaming Gorge Classic in Green River and Rock Springs Thursday.
The Lady Wolverines fell to Bear Lake, Idaho 50-37. Savannah Martinez led RHS with 11 points, Kamdyn Sheets scored 9 and Paizley Jackson tallied 7.
The Wolverine boys fell to top ranked Thunder Basin High School 64-48. Riverton kept the first three quarters competitive, trailing by one at halftime and tying the game 33-33 with 3:50 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Thunder Basin piled on 31 points in the final 11 minutes of play, however.
Lucas Engle was Riverton’s leading scorer with 17, Paxton Parker added 16 and Kade Gabrielsen scored 7.
Both Riverton teams continue play Friday with the Lady Wolverines in Rock Springs playing Farson-Eden and the RHS boys in Rock Springs playing Grace, Idaho.
