(Laramie County, WY) – On January 28th, 2022, a fatal collision between two vehicles occurred around milepost 41 on US-85, according to a preliminary report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) released on Friday, February 4th.
The deceased has been identified as the driver of one of the vehicles, 55-year-old Colorado resident Janice Jackson.
According to the report, a truck was northbound on US-85 while another vehicle was southbound.
The driver of the truck lost control on the slick roadway and began a passenger leading slide.
The truck then rotated into the southbound lane and was struck by the other vehicle.
While no possible contributing factors were listed, the report did indicate icy/frosty road conditions with blowing winds, and that a seatbelt was not in use.
This is the 3rd fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2022 compared to 14 in 2021, 5 in 2020, and 14 in 2019 to date.
