    Fremont County man pled ‘guilty’ to strangulation assault charge

    (Casper, WY) – United States Attorney Bob Murray announced today that Calvin White, 32, of Ethete, pled “guilty” to assault by strangulation at a change of plea hearing on February 17, 2022, before Chief United States District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl, according to a release issued by the Department of Justice.

    Sentencing has been set for May 10, 2022. 

    According to the indictment, on or about October 25, 2021, White did knowingly assault his victim by strangling and attempting to strangle them.

    Assault by strangulation carries a maximum penalty of not more than 10 years of imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment. 

    A federal district court judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

    This crime was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy W. Gist is prosecuting the case.
