Fremont County man faces 2 counts of suspected child pornography

(Lander, WY) – On October 23, 2020, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation/Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that 23-year-old Garrett Thomas Findlay, of Lander, was allegedly in possession of videos and photographs (14 files total) of prepubescent females being sexually violated, a felony offense.

After receiving the tip, Special Agents from Homeland Security Investigations were able to request administrative summons for Findlay’s IP addresses from his cell phone and cable providers. With this information, the WDCI was able to execute a search warrant of Findlay’s home on March 3.

When interviewed by law enforcement, Findlay reportedly admitted to utilizing the username associated with the files, and also confessed to being in possession of Child Pornography on his phone. He waived his preliminary hearing, and the case has been transferred to District Court.

County 10 will share any updates following the hearing.
