    Chiefs and Lady Chiefs Runners-Up at State XC – Ameya Eddy Second for Lady Tigers

    Fremont County cross country teams placed six individual runners in the top 10 in the Class 2-A and 3-A boys and girls’ races and three teams brought home trophies at the Casper Country Club last Saturday.

    The Wyoming Indian boys and girls finished runner-up in their respective divisions with the boys tallying 47 points to finish behind state champion Burlington who scored 27. Burlington placed three runners in the top four positions with Howard and Paul McNiven first and second and Connor Hoyt third.

    Colton SunRhodes had an outstanding season for the Chiefs this year and led Wyoming Indian with a sixth-place individual finish. Teammate Heeyeiniitou Monroe-Black earned all-state honors as well finishing in 10th place.

    The Lady Chiefs were just nine points behind state champion Wright with 39 points. Dai’onna Posey led Wyoming Indian with a third-place finish in 22:13.81. Shye Killsontop, Justice Isis, and Camellia Brown came across in 11th, 12th, and 13th place.

    The Lander girls were eighth in the Class 3-A race, but senior Ameya Eddy had a great finish to her stellar career with a runner-up finish behind Zena Tapia of Worland.

    In the Class 3-A boys race, Riverton and Lander each had a top 10 finisher and the Wolverine boys brought home the third-place trophy.

    Lander’s Diego Lobatos was fifth in 16:58.2 and Riverton senior Kaden Chatfield ninth with a time of 17:22.4.

    The Riverton boys tallied 97 points, finishing behind state champion Evanston and runner-up Worland while edging fourth-place Buffalo by a single point.
