The SAR has been active in Wyoming or over a century, beginning shortly after the national society was founded in 1889. Its current membership is around a hundred members and is growing. Five chapters are currently chartered in the state: Big Horn Basin, High Plains, North Platte, Powder River and Wind River.

“SAR members have also answered their country’s call in every major American conflict beginning with the battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775, and continuing to the present day, including Operation Desert Storm, Bosnia, and the recent actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. SAR members have received the highest awards America can bestow, including the Medal of Honor. Our core values are:

    • Remembering Our Past….By honoring those who served or assisted the colonies during the Revolutionary War.
    • Promoting Core Values….By protecting our Constitution and perpetuating American ideals and traditions.
    • Shaping Young Minds….By educating our youth about the Constitution and those who developed the American ideals and traditions.”

President Falken’s goals for the next few months are to create a WYSSAR Website, fill all open state and chapter officer positions, build membership, coordinate a joint general conference and 250th anniversary event with the WYDAR and modernize and improve the efficiency and responsiveness of the society operations and build positive relationship with related organizations like the DAR and the community in general.

The National Society Sons of the American Revolution was founded in 1889 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. members, schools, teachers and the general public in their efforts to sustain and preserve our history and constitutional principles. To learn more about the work of today’s SAR, visit or contact Karl Falken at [email protected].
