(Riverton, WY) – 43-year-old Riverton resident David Munda, who was charged back in September for reported sexual assaults spanning 12 years, now faces multiple charges for two more separate cases.
Probable cause was found at the preliminary hearings for both cases, and they will now move on to District Court, with arraignment dates yet to be scheduled.
The charges for the first case include two felony counts of child abuse, for reported incidents occurring on or between August 1st, 2017 and February 28th, 2018, as well as on or between July 19th, 2017 and July 21st, 2018.
On September 14th, 2021, a Child Forensic Interviewer with the Child Advocacy Project made contact with the victim, who informed them of two separate incidents on the above-mentioned dates, where Munda became physically violent.
The first incident reportedly resulted in the victim being left with bruising all around their chest, after being repeatedly punched and kicked by Munda.
The second reported incident involved Munda strangling the victim to the point where they “saw stars,” and thought death was a possibility.
The charges for the second case include:
- One felony count of sexual assault in the second degree for a reported incident occurring on or between April 29th, 2008 and October 29th, 2008
- One misdemeanor count of sexual battery for a reported incident occurring on or between for a reported incident occurring on or between July 29th, 2007 and April 29th, 2008
- One misdemeanor count of sexual battery for a reported incident occurring on or between March 1st, 2011 and April 1st, 2011.
On September 20th, 2021, a Riverton Police Department (RPD) detective spoke with the next victim, who reported that Munda had made forced sexual contact with her on three separate occasions, on the above mentioned dates.
The third reported incident involved Munda exposing himself to the victim while making sexual advances/contact.
During this third incident, the victim fled the residence and Munda reportedly stated “this wouldn’t be the last time they would be together,” as they left, resulting in the victim never returning to the home and cutting ties with Munda and his then wife.
Munda still faces the eight charges filed in September, linked above, with a jury trial scheduled for May 16th, 2022 (rescheduled from January 18th).
The arraignment dates for the new cases have yet to be scheduled.
