    RHS speech, debate team won 8th tournament in a row in Jackson over weekend

    (Jackson, WY) – It was another amazing win for the Riverton High School Speech and Debate team this past weekend. The Jackson Hole Tournament marked the 8th week in a row that Riverton claimed first overall.

    Carolyn Thornton took 1st in Humorous Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, and Dramatic Interpretation. She also placed 2nd in Program Oral Interpretation and 2nd in Duo Interpretation with Shannyn Kriezer. Shannyn placed 2nd in Humorous Interpretation followed by Cody Heard in 3rd.

    Riverton was well represented in Duo Interpretation with a first place win going to Ashtin Griffin & Sam Houtman, a 2nd place win going to Carly Thornton & Shannyn Krietzer and a 3rd place win going to Noah Smith & Kaia Tippets. Gabby Nguyen & Mary Witzel placed 7th in Duo.

    Other speech wins went to Kaia Tippets placing 4th place in Extemporaneous Speaking, 5th in Poetic Interpretation and  3rd in Program Oral Interpretation. Adrianna Potter claimed 2nd place in Dramatic Interpretation and Cat Hancock advanced to semis in Informative speaking

    Riverton achieved a closeout in Cross Examination Debate (a Riverton tie for 1st place) by Kylar Bennett & Hunter McOmie and MJ Nguyen & Riley Walker.

    Also placing in the debates was Taylee Olson & Caleb Peeks  claiming third place in Public Forum Debate.

    Making it to Semis in Congressional debate was Gabby Nguyen & TJ Hancock and placing 2nd in Congressional Debate was Kylar Bennett.
