UPDATE: The previously closed stretch of highway is now reopened. According to Lander Rural Fire Department Battalion 3 Fire Chief Trent Jones, the fire is now contained after growing to a size of 17.3 acres.
(Ethete, WY) – Scanner traffic indicated a grass fire around 1:00 PM, reported on the 8600 block of 287 between the Plunket Road and Blue Sky Highway intersections.
That stretch of 287 is now closed while responders address the scene.
As of this writing the size of the fire is unknown, but windy conditions are making the spread more difficult to contain.
Multiple fire agencies are on the scene, so please use caution in the area and yield to all first responders.
