PAWS Pet of the Week – Meet Aspen!

Aspen is a 6-year-old Mastiff mix. For her age, she has a spring in her step! She loves to go for walks and just be with her people. This wasn’t always so. She came to us this Spring from a horrible situation. She was scared of everything and because she was used as a guard dog, she had barrier aggression. She was also stiff in her joints which was quite painful for her. We got her on some pain medication and also a joint supplement. It truly has helped her.

When this girl loves you, she loves you! Her eyes follow you the whole time you are in her sight. If you go into her kennel with her, she wants to think she is a lap puppy and sit in your lap. And the Mastiff drool 🙂 she loves to drool all over you.

She still has reservations about strangers and men. She would do best with someone that will take the time to win her over. She came in with another dog, but at first, was hesitant about new dogs. She walks great with the other dogs now, but would definitely need a meet and greet with potential adopters and all family members- two and four-legged, to make sure she is a good fit for the family. We recommend with her hurtful joints that a household with older children that respected boundaries would be best. She probably would not tolerate a toddler climbing all over her.

She is also available to do a foster trial to see if she would be a good fit after the initial meet and greet.

Please help us find Aspen a home!
