(Riverton, WY) – Riverton Search & Rescue (RSAR) held their first-ever Get Lost Banquet on August 28th which packed the Fremont Center and raised nearly $30,000.
Banquet organizer and RSAR member Jeremy Hanson shared they sold all 300 tickets they had available and an estimated 275 attended. He also noted they are extremely happy with how the event turned out.
Banquet planning started in February after they decided this year to transition their annual fundraiser from a carp shoot and raffle to the banquet dinner in hopes of engaging more of the community. They are already eager for next year’s banquet, Jeremy noted.
“We are super grateful to the community – all of the money will go toward training and new equipment for search and rescue.”
The evening included games, as well as both a silent auction and live auction – which had a variety of items ranging from half of a beef to helicopter rides. Dinner was catered by Bunk’s BBQ and drinks from Teton Distributors.
As an all-volunteer organization, community support helps them fulfill their mission: “find the lost, rescue the stranded and injured, and recover the deceased.”
The team of 17 along with 5 probationary members in training are available 24/7/365, no matter the weather or location, to help in someone’s time of need.
“We are super thankful, and really enjoyed the energy in the entire room that night,” Jeremy continued. “You could feel it from everyone – attendees, auctioneers, and our team.”
