On the map: Travelers can now find RIW when planning their flights

Imagine you live in another state. You need to plan a trip to Fremont County for business, or you’re looking to avoid the nuttiness of Jackson or one of the other airports that service the Yellowstone visitor. Prior to this week you would not have seen “RIW – Riverton Airport” listed as a destination option.

But, it’s not ‘last week’, it’s this week, and now those same travelers visiting United.com will be shown the option to fly into Fremont County.

“The interline agreement with United Airlines is live,” Wade Goetz of Denver Air Connection announced today.

Travelers continuing beyond Denver on a United Airlines flight can purchase one ticket from the Riverton Regional Airport (RIW) to their final destination, and luggage will be transferred automatically. United flies 419 daily flights from Denver, including 15 direct international flights, meaning RIW is connected to the world.

This will be a significant impact on both our travel and tourism economy, as well as for business travelers – Fremont Air Service Taskforce (FAST) Chair Missy White.

“The flying community has been asking for this upgrade in service, and we’re pleased that it is now available.” The option remains for travelers to purchase a ticket with The DAC for travel to Denver, and a second ticket with the carrier of their choice beyond Denver. However, the interline agreement is only with United.

Noteworthy: The interline agreement will only apply for those who purchase tickets from today forward. It is not retroactive for tickets purchase prior to the interline agreement announcement. Flyers who travel only between Riverton and Denver should continue to purchase their tickets via DAC, either on denverairconnection.com or calling customer service. DAC’s midday flight from Riverton allows passengers to travel to Sheridan, or continue to Denver. Direct mid-day flights to Denver will return in May.
