    Oldest Eastern Shoshone Tribal Member turned 102 today

    (Fort Washakie, WY) – Rosie Harris celebrated her 102nd birthday today, January 20th. She is not only the oldest Eastern Shoshone Tribal Member but is the oldest Tribal Member on the Wind River Reservation.

    Rosie resides at Morning Star Care Center in Fort Washakie and they provided a pre-celebration interview with her about turning 102 years old. Below is their Q&A.


    What are some of your best memories in your 102 years?
    I liked hunting elk, putting up hay, and taking care of the cows.

    How many kids do you have and how long were you married?
    I have 3 kids, 2 boys, and 1 girl. I was married for 59 years before my husband passed.

    How do you feel about turning 102 and how do you feel about being the oldest living Eastern Shoshone member?
    I feel good about it and I didn’t think I would live this long.

    What made you happy when you were younger?
    Getting married and having kids. My family makes me happy.

    What about now?
    Everything makes me happy now. Playing cards with you (Mike) and bingo.

    What’s your advice to anyone wanting to make it to their 102nd birthday?
    Take care of yourself.
