    High Wind Warning issued for Wind River Basin; Riverton, Shoshoni could see wind gusts up to 65 mph

    (Fremont County, WY) – As reported earlier today, High Wind Warnings were likely to be in effect for parts of the state today, and now that warning will continue until 8:00 PM for the Wind River Basin.

    North winds ranging from 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 and 65 mph are expected to affect areas along and to the north of the Pavillion to Shoshoni line, as well as parts of Riverton.

    The National Weather Service in Riverton advises that “transportation, especially on west-to-east orientated roadways” are most at risk, and also advised of an “elevated to extreme blowover risk for lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.”

    “Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds. Use caution if you must drive.”
