Elevated fire conditions in effect for Fremont County today

(Fremont County, WY) – According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Fremont County can expect elevated fire conditions today, Friday, April 8th.

The alert is in effect from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR RAPID FIRE SPREAD IN
WILDLAND FUELS, INCLUDING GRASSES AND SHRUBS.

WHERE: FREMONT COUNTY. 

WHEN: NOON TO 7 PM. 

RELATIVE HUMIDITY: AROUND 15 PERCENT.  

WIND: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH OVER THE
SOUTHEAST PORTIONS OF FREMONT COUNTY. NORTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 20 
MPH WITH GUSTS OF 25 MPH OVER THE CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST PORTIONS 
OF THE WIND RIVER BASIN. 

TEMPERATURE: 65 TO 70 DEGREES. 

IMPACT: FIRE AND EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WEATHER
CONDITIONS WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SIGNIFICANT 
WIND-DRIVEN GRASS AND SHRUB FIRES.
