Dubois Town Council to consider new transportation agreements, ceasing half cent payments to WRTA on Wednesday

The Dubois Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Council Chambers at Dubois Town Hall, 712 Meckem Street.

The agenda includes a discussion about the People’s Initiative to Limit Property Tax in Wyoming through a Homeowner’s Property Exemption, with a presentation by 7-1 Fremont County Republican Precinct Committee Woman Amy Cross.

The council will also consider nine action items Wednesday, including:
-a final payment for $12,240 for the Town Hall sidewalk repair project
-a hangar lot sublease agreement at the Dubois Municipal Airport
-an agreement extension with the Dubois Anglers Wildlife Group for maintenance at Pete’s Pond
-an appointment to the Dubois Board of Adjustment

    WRTA payments

Another action items on Wednesday’s agenda is regarding the local half percent sales tax for economic development, 10 percent of which goes to the Wind River Transportation Authority.

“The Town of Dubois has been paying 10 percent of (its) half-cent sales tax funds monthly to the WRTA,” the agenda states. “(But) the Town of Dubois does not receive services for these funds.”

The council will consider approving an alternative transportation agreement this week with the High Country Senior Citizens Center and Dubois Assisted Living contingent on the concurrence of those groups and “ceasing payments to the WRTA,” according to the agenda.

The meeting is open to the public for in-person attendance, and past meeting minutes are available here.
