(Scottsbluff, NE) – The Central Wyoming College volleyball team qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament Saturday evening.
The Lady Rustlers took the second automatic qualifier spot in the region 9 tournament after knocking off Eastern Wyoming College in three straight sets.
Northeastern Junior College won the region 9 championship, defeating CWC Friday. The Lady Rustlers bounced back to win the second spot at nationals in the double-elimination tournament.
Central Head Coach Darshaya Gallard was named the Region 9 North Coach of the Year after the tournament concluded.
Lady Rustler Makenzie Templeton, who is CWC’s leader in kills, won the Region 9 North Player of the Year, and was named part of the All-Region and All-Tournament teams.
CWC’s dig leader Alohandra Hernandez was named the Region 9 North Libero of the Year, All-Conference, and All-Tournament.
Sophie Langer was named the Region 9 North Setter of the Year and part of the All-Region Team.
CWC’s leader in blocks, Ava Rasmussen, was named to the All-Tournament and All-Region 9 Team.
The NJCAA Tournament takes place in Hutchison, Kansas November 18-20. Brackets are not yet set. 88.1 Rustler Radio will have all the coverage from the tournament.
