    #WyoStrong: Local Army Veteran receives Bronze Star

    (Lander, WY) – Lander resident Michael Clancy retired as a Field Artillery First Sergent from the U.S. Army on September 1st, 2021, after serving 26 years.

    On January 8th, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service in Afghanistan.

    He deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan, for a combined total of 40 months.

    “I was hoping I’d never go into double digits, let alone well into double digits,” Michael noted.

    During his decades of service, he explained you learn a lot about yourself and a lot about others.

    “Some pros and some cons. Overall, it was a really good time.”

    He shared appreciation to the Fremont County government for being so supportive during his time with the Army, and a special thank you to both Billy Meeks and Clyde Winchester.
