Wyoming Indian High School freshman cross country standout Paris Barrera was featured in the latest edition of ‘Sports Illustrated’ magazine.

The state champion runner was selected for their ‘Faces in the Crowd’ feature along with athletes from Little Rock, Long Beach, and New Jersey.

Paris won the 2A state cross country individual championship with a time of 20:13:57. She finished 5 seconds ahead of Moorcroft’s Hailey Jones. Jones, a senior, had won three straight state championships.

Barrera also won back-to-back races in the Lakota Nation Invitation and the 5 Rivers Conference Meet.

The Lady Chiefs also claimed the team championship with many top 2A finishes in late October.
