Wyoming Indian girls claim 2A cross country championship

The Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs are 2A state cross country champions.

WIHS edged Lovell in the overall team standings Saturday afternoon in Afton. Thermopolis’ ladies finished third.

Individually, Paris Barrera paced the field with a time of 20:13:57. She was 5 seconds ahead of Moorcroft’s Hailey Jones for the indivdiual championship. Larissa McElroy from WIHS finished 3rd and Riquell Curry came in 4th.

The Wyoming Indian boys finished 3rd overall as Saratoga claimed the 2A boys championship.

The 3A girls championship went to Cody, Lander Valley High School finished 4th overall. Their top finisher was Kay Kay Sandall in 14th. Riverton’s ladies finished 13th in the 14 team field.

Lander’s boys took second behind only Star Valley. LVHS’ Kaleb Simonson had the Tigers highest finish in 3rd. Riverton’s boys took 11th.

In class 4A, Natrona County’s ladies and Sheridan’s boys won team championships.
