#RivertonBiz: Sisters team up on new local business endeavor

#rivertonbiz, shares the stories of local movers and shakers of our Fremont County economy.

(Riverton, WY) – Three sisters from Riverton have teamed up to create Blue Hyde Co. A new local business specializing in Wyoming-made, custom-designed leather hat patches.

Their current design repertoire ranges from mountains to bison; personalization is also available for logos and other designs. The patches are made out of genuine cowhide and are sewn onto hats that come in a variety of styles, sizes (including youth) and colors.

Sisters Jori Skaggs, Dani Ward and Bre McCallum each bring their own area of expertise to Blue Hyde.

Every product is handcrafted by Jori whose journey to patch making started with woodworking, she shared.

Last year, Jori and her dad started making wooden spoons and participated in a spoon-making contest at the Maker Space 307 in Riverton. While she continued to expand in woodworking, she also branched out into making other items at the Maker Space.

New items include the leather hat patches that are made using a CO2 laser with designs created by Bre, who resides in Colorado.

Bringing her graphic design and illustrator background to Blue Hyde, Bre has created all of the design concepts and continues to expand their available options.

Dani has helped with pretty much everything and is preparing to move back to Riverton from Utah, Jori noted.

“They have been so much help,” she continued about her sisters.

Eventually, Jori would like to add screen-printed items to their product line which is in the very early stages right now. In the near future, she hopes to have their hats in local retail locations.

Retailers interested in selling Blue Hyde Co. hats or ordering customized hats can contact Jori by calling (307) 851-3820. Bulk ordering and customization have a 2-3 week lead time.
