    Riverton musician releases debut album

(Riverton, WY) – Evan Piquette recently released his debut electronic album under the name Zük. The album, Mode of the Receiver, is now available on all major streaming platforms.

When you think of electronic music composers, Wyoming probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, nor rural Colorado where Evan grew up.

He loved music from a very young age and dabbled in several genres – ranging from playing in a punk-rock band to accompanying the local musical theater group.

His love of electronic music is attributed to his older brothers who could on occasion be found DJ’ing school dances.

“Electronic touches my soul,” he noted. “I didn’t start writing electronic [music] until college.”

Though he released amateur albums under the name Orchard of Hotels during college, Mode of the Receiver is his first fully produced album. Citing the vulnerability it takes to put yourself out there in front of people.

“Music is a way for me to express myself, as cheesy as it sounds.”

From start to finish the album was completed in 2020 and the name comes from an old metaphysics axiom, he shared. “Things are received according to the mode of the receiver.”

The songs have several different inspirations.

The most popular one right now is “Honest Man” which is linked below. This song is based on the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes who wandered the streets holding a lantern to the faces of passersby claiming to search for an honest man.
