    RHS speech, debate team took first place in 3A competition at Green River

    (Riverton, WY) – The Riverton High School Speech and Debate team competed against 8 teams this past weekend at Green River, where they took first place in the 3A competition.

    Among those placing were team members Gabe and Tegan Long and partners Taylee Olson and Caleb Peeks, who tied for 3rd place in Novice Public Forum Debate. 

    Nate Davis and Mailie Williams took 3rd place in Cross Examination Debate. 

    In Novice Congressional Debate Ayana Mejorado placed 1st and TJ Hancock placed 2nd, and Ayana Mejorado also placed 3rd place in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate.

    In Varsity Congressional Debate, Kylar Bennett and Ayana Mejorado tied for 5th place, while Shannyn Kreitzer claimed 2nd place in Varsity Dramatic Interpretation.

    Adrianna Potter took 4th and Cody Heard took 5th in Novice Dramatic Interpretation, with Duo team Kylie Downie and Ashtin Griffin nabbing 1st place in Duet.

    Novice humor had several wins with Sam Houtman taking 1st, Taylee Olson taking 2nd and Cody Heard taking 4th.

    In Varsity Poetry, Carly Thornton placed 3rd and Maile Williams placed 6th, while Addison England placed 4th in Novice Poetry.

    Carly Thornton also placed 1st in both Humorous Interpretation and Program Oral Interpretation.

    The team has a few weeks off for the holidays, then is back at it with a tournament at NW College the first of the year.
