(Fort Washakie, WY) – A petition submitted by the SoGo-Beah-Nahtsu Board was approved by the Shoshone Business Council last week to hold a Special General Council Meeting in May. This meeting is for the legalizing of medical marijuana.

Ahead of this meeting, the SoGo-Beah-Nahtsu Board has organized an informational medical marijuana meeting open to the public on May 13th at Rocky Mountain Hall starting at 3 pm, according to board member Bobbi Shongutsie. Guests from Colorado and Nevada will be in attendance to provide educational information.

Shongutsie shared the Special General Council Meeting for Shoshone Tribal Members will be held on May 15 at Rocky Mountain Hall begins and begins at 10 am.

It includes three agenda items: “1. To legalize medical cannabis under the Cole and Wilkinson Memoranda. 2. Decriminalize medical cannabis from the S & A Law & Order Code, and 3. To create a Medical Cannabis Commission to regulate.”

The process to legalize marijuana and hemp production through the Shoshone Business Council started in 2019.
