    Martha Johanna McRae

    Martha Johanna McRae, 92, of Lander passed away on August 21, 2018 at Westward Heights Care Center. Martha has spread her angel wings and has flown to join her Hawk in the sky. A cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held September 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Methodist church.

    Martha was born to Carl and Myrtle (Farthing) Nirider on November 18, 1925 in Lander Wyoming. Martha was a lifelong Wyoming resident. She was raised with her brother Jim on a ranch in Ethete.

    Martha attended nursing school in Bozeman MT. She finished her Nurse training through the Cadet Nursing Core at Deaconess Hospital in Billings MT during WW II. She was a loving and blessed soul that worked in the public health service her entire life. She was an employee of Division of Indian Health. Martha worked as a nurse and nursing director at Indian Health Service Clinic for 29 years.

    She married Lee Ward “Hawk” McRae on July 10, 1951. They raised two sons.

    Martha enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, rock hunting, traveling, the great outdoors, cooking, family and socializing with her friends. Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with Martha will never forget her infectious smile and her ambitious personality.

    Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed by everyone.

    Martha is preceded in death by her Husband Lee Ward “Hawk” McRae, her parents Carl and Myrtle Nirider, Her brother James Nirider, and countless family and friends.

    Martha is survived by her Son Shawn McRae of Lander, grandchildren, Kristin McRae (Montana), Jeffery McRae (Colorado), Great Grandchildren Madeline and Maximus McRae (Colorado), sister in-law Nonie Nirider (Lander WY). Son James (Janet) McRae (Cheyenne WY) and many aunts, uncles, niece and nephews, cousins and many close friends.
