    In loving memory, Roy Garry Woody

    Roy Garry Woody passed away on October 7, 2020, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

    Roy was born on January 4, 1940, in Thermopolis, Wyoming, to Loyd Robert Woody and Marjory (Egbert) Woody.

    Roy was raised on Owl Creek on a ranch. He and his sister, Shirley rode a horse to Anchor School as young children through the 8th grade. He then attended high school in Thermopolis. He was active in FFA and 4-H. He attended many state fairs with his projects. Roy went to Casper College for 2 years during which time he was in the rodeo club, worked at the sale barn, and area ranches.

    After college, he went to work on the construction of Anchor Dam. His parents sold their ranch on Owl Creek and bought a farm in Paradise Valley. Roy followed them to the Riverton area. He worked as a roustabout on Beaver Creek and for various farmers in the area.

    In 1965, Roy married Emilie Lingar. Soon after, they bought their first farm, and Roy was active in the community. He was a Missouri Valley Volunteer Fireman, he was on the Sugar Beet Board, on the Midvale Grazing Board, and was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer in 1972.

    In 1968, having to be a little different, Roy and Emy welcomed their only child a “Leap Year” baby, Gavin.

    Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Brooks and Audie, and all of his family and friends. He loved old Ford tractors, farming, ranching, and rodeos.

    He is survived by his wife, Emy; son and daughter-in-law, Gavin and Camille; grandsons, Brooks and Audie; sister Bobbie Philabaum (Pat); many nieces and nephews and friends.

    Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Marjory Woody, sisters Shirley Brown of Wheatland and Lois Heil of Riverton.

    Services will be Saturday, October 17th, 2020, at 11 a.m. at the Missouri Valley Fire Hall. Donations may be made to the Shoshoni FFA or Missouri Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
