    George Reno Good

George Reno Good, age 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and children on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

George was born to Howard and Dorothy (Dauberman) Good on October 31, 1934, in Pennsylvania. In his youth, George worked as a butcher and at a ball-bearing factory, but his true passion was automobiles. In 1955, George married Helen Murphy and they had seven children.

In 1969, George moved his family to Lander, Wyoming where his love of hunting and fishing flourished. He initially worked for Fremont Motors; then went into business for himself and ran the Conoco gas station and auto repair on the corner 2nd and Main, and later moved across the street to focus on auto repair only. When the physical work of mechanics became difficult for him, George and Helen turned the building into “The Good Place” sporting goods where he shared his broad knowledge of the area with both residents and tourists.

George had a wonderful hobby of gardening and was very skillful at it. He passed this hobby onto many of his children. He always shared seedlings and homegrown produce with family and friends. He was also an artist. Many of his paintings hang in the homes of family and friends today. He spent a good amount of time in front of the BBQ and in the kitchen as he loved to cook and bake for his family. His applesauce cake was unbeatable.

George had a lifelong deep faith in God and read his Bible every day. George is survived by his wife, Helen, of 64 years. He is also survived by his children – Helen (Larry) LaRose of Lander; Susan (Del) McOmie of Cheyenne; David (Karen) Good of Lander; Dot (Jeff) Stefanich of Salt Lake City; Diane (Jeff) Olsen of Loa, Utah; and Lisa (Matt) Radke of South Jordan, Utah; his brothers, Bill (Sandy), John, and Bob (Claire) Good. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Dan, his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

“PopPop” will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren – Leah, Phillip, Matthew, and Cody Montgomery; Annie, Henry, Paco and Elena Hernandez; Michael LaRose and Erika Anchondo; Christine, Cullen Bronson and Finn Even; Megan and Allen Webb; Rebecca McOmie; Matthew and Kayleigh Good, Brittney Good; Katie and Nick Stefanich; Alana, Josh, Avery, Clay and Ari Wilson; Danielle, John and Scarlett Wetzel; Tom, A.J., Tabitha and Nate Young.

Services for George will be Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 10 am in Lander, Wyoming at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. His many friends are invited to join his family at that time.
