Entirety of Loop Road to open Friday

(Lander, WY) — The Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest announced Thursday they will open the remainder of Louis Lake Road a.k.a. Loop Road, FSR 300, on Friday, June 11th.

Melting snow over the past few weeks allowed sections of the road to open starting with South Pass to Maxon Basin and Bruce’s Bridge to Worthen Meadow opened to vehicles.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as we waited for snow to melt off the middle section of the Loop Road,” said District Ranger Steve Schacht. “As the road opens for use, we want to remind folks that we have had a relatively dry spring, so please take care with campfires and anything that may create a spark as vegetation is likely to continue to dry out.”
