    Driver faces 9 charges after wreck in Lander last week

    In the early morning hours of February 24th, a vehicle with two occupants crashed into a rock wall and tree near 10th Street in Lander. Our earlier post shared that both occupants were in critical condition and taken out of the county for medical treatment.

    Today, March 2nd, the Lander Police Department (LPD) has shared that the driver, 42-year-old Carlos Castillo from California, has been arrested on 9 counts after being released from the Casper hospital on Friday, February 28th.

    The charges filed against Castillo include: Driving While Under the Influence, Driving on Sidewalk, Duty to Stop Property Damage (OxBow), Stop Sign Violation, Fleeing/Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving Roadways Violations, Speeding, and Vehicle Registration Violation.

    According to LPD, the 55-year-old female passenger from Texas remains in “critical condition at a Utah hospital.”

    The case is still under investigation and all charges have been file in County Circuit Court, LPD noted.
