Art banner project seeks Fremont County painters

(Fremont County, WY) – Displays of art banners from museums around the country have been mounted on buildings around Riverton and surrounding areas for around two decades. For the very first time organizers are doing an open call to local painters for the chance of being featured on a banner.

Two Fremont County artists will be selected through public voting which is happening between July 6th and July 20th. There are no genre restrictions for this art call. Each winner will receive $250 and maintains ownership of the original painting.

Those wishing to participate may submit one painting of their choice and deliver it to the Riverton Library no later than Saturday, June 19th at 3 pm. The paintings will be on display at the Library and Riverton Museum during the public voting period. Winners will be announced on August 10th.

Riverton residents Hal Herron and Mike Martin are the organizers behind the Art Banner Project and are dedicated to beautifying Riverton with larger-than-life-sized art. To date, some 17 art banners have been produced and hung throughout the City. Examples can be seen on Main Street, the Library and on many Riverton schools.

Making this years’ local artist call possible is Riverton economic development organization IDEA Inc., according to Mike and Hal. “They have been a long-time supporter of the Art Banner Project and their generous donation makes this call for local artists a reality.”

The complete details of this call for artists can be read here. County 10 will also share the voting information once that period begins.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact Hal Herron at 307-851-2742 or [email protected] OR Mike Martin 307-709-9229 or [email protected].
