    Wyoming Department of Corrections announces new Deputy Director

    (Cheyenne, WY) – The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) announced Heather Babbitt as their new Deputy Director. Deputy Director Babbitt brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise to the department, according to the WDOC press release.

    She will be transitioning to the WDOC from the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) where she served as the Deputy Administrator of the Behavioral Health Division since 2017.

    Babbitt brings 26 years of experience in State Government where she has served in the roles of Senior Administrator of the Aging Division at the WDH, Administrator for Economic Assistance Division at the Wyoming Department of Family Services (DFS), Drug Court Coordinator for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Division at WDH, Deputy Administrator for the Support Services Division at WDOC, Program Manager, and Case Manager at DFS.

    Deputy Director Babbitt has a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of
    Wyoming and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Child and Family Studies from the UW.

    In regards to her new role with the WDOC Deputy Director Babbitt states: “The Wyoming Department of Corrections has a long history of excellence and I am humbled and honored to have been selected to be the Deputy Director. I am excited to bring my experience with Wyoming human services programs to the WDOC and make a meaningful contribution to the mission and goals of the department.”

    Director Shannon remarked: “I am both honored and privileged to have Deputy Director Babbitt join our executive team. Her energy and experience with the health and human services will assist this organization during these difficult times.” Deputy Director Babbitt will start with the WDOC on March 22nd, 2021.
