7220sports.com is reporting that University of Wyoming men’s basketball coach Allen Edwards was fired Monday.
Wyoming went just 9-24 this season, finishing last in the Mountain West Conference. Speculation about Edwards retaining his job was at a season-high last week, however, when Wyoming won two Mountain West Tournament games.
Edwards worked as an assistant for Wyoming from 2011-2016. He took over after Larry Shyatt announced his resignation in 2016. Wyoming went 23-15 under Edwards during his first season, 20-13 his second season, but won just 8 games during the 2018-2019 campaign and 9 in 2019-2020.
A coaching search will begin this week for his replacement.
