    Three UW Women Golfers achieve All-America Scholar Status

    (Laramie, Wyo.) — The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced this week, and three University of Wyoming Cowgirls earned the prestigious honor.

          Sarah Hankins, from Thornton, Colo., has achieved a 3.62 cumulative grade-point average in mechanical engineering through her junior season of 2017-18.  Erin Sargent from Longmont, Colo., concluded her sophomore season with a perfect 4.00 cumulative gpa in finance, and Caitlyn Skavdahl, from Casper, Wyo., who was a redshirt freshman in 2017-18, has achieved a perfect 4.00 as an international studies major.

          “I am very proud of these three tremendous representatives of our program for earning this well-deserved honor,” said Josey Stender, University of Wyoming Head Women’s Golf Coach.  “All three young women exemplify what we strive for in our program, competitive success in the classroom and on the golf course. This recognition for them is a credit to their determination and organization considering the amount of travel within our sport.”

          In order to be named  to the 2017-18 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, collegiate golfers must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
