    Snow on the way today for Wind River Range and Lander Foothills

    The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Upper Wind River Basin, the Wind River Basin, Lander Foothills to include the cities of Dubois, Riverton, Shoshoni, and Lander.

    The NWS reported that much colder and wet weather will occur this weekend into next week:

    WHAT – Snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of an inch or less for most areas with locally higher amounts possible, mainly above 5500 feet. The Lander Foothills above Lander will likely see one to three inches of snowfall.

    WHERE – Wind River Basin and Lander Foothills.

    WHEN – Today through noon MDT Monday. Most of the snow will occur this morning and tonight.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS – Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute on Monday. Expect reduced visibilities at times.

    Tonight: Rain likely before 1am, then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 32. North northeast wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
    Columbus Day: Snow showers likely before 9am, then rain and snow showers likely between 9am and noon, then a chance of rain showers after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. North northeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
