Scientists are reporting that they’re finding several different types of fossils at a site beneath Buffalo Bill Reservoir.
They include fossils of a deer-like creature called an artiodactyl, as well as remains of mammoths, camels, bison, and a horse.
The Powell Tribune reports that the fossils are from the Pleistocene era. The era spans between 2.5 million and 12,000 years ago.
In April, archaeologists discovered mammoth bones on the shore. They began digging for more when they made additional discoveries.
The scientists hope testing will give them more information on the animals and age of the fossils.
