    Public invited to “Plein Air in the Parks” September 20-23 at Sinks Canyon State Park

    The Wyoming Arts Council, Wyoming State Parks and the Lander Art Center invite members of the public to attend Plein Air in the Parks, Sept. 20-23 at Sinks Canyon State Park.

    Artists from around the state and region will be creating artwork on site, in plein air, beginning Thursday, Sept. 20 at noon, Friday, Sept. 21 and Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and through 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23. The public is invited to visit Sinks Canyon State Park to meet the artists, observe them working and see the park through a new lens.

    A free screening of the PBS exclusive film, “Painting the Falls of Yellowstone” will be held at the Museum of the American West, 1445 W. Main St., Lander, on Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.

    Plein Air in the Parks will conclude with an awards ceremony, reception and art show and sale on Sunday, Sept. 23, 1-3 p.m. at the Sinks Canyon State Park Visitor Center, 3079 Sinks Canyon Road. The public is invited to attend, cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award and purchase artwork.

    Registration is still open for artists and youth interested in participating in Plein Air in the Parks. A reduced rate for college students is available for $15.00 and a youth division rate for those under the age of 18 is available for $5.00. Artists will have the option of selling pieces produced at the event during the reception.
