(Lander, WY) – On Sunday, October 17, 2021 at around 1:30 PM, an inmate at the Fremont County Detention Center was found deceased by Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Deputies.
The 66-year-old Lander area man had been arrested and charged with DWUI by the Lander Police Department, and was booked into the Detention Center around 4:00 PM the previous day (10/16/21).
The release from FCSO states that during a routine check, Deputies noticed the man was not breathing.
EMS then responded and lifesaving efforts were attempted, but unfortunately the man did not survive.
The cause of the man’s death is not yet known and an investigation is underway by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the Fremont County Coroner’s Office.
Detention Center video footage shows no suspicious activity involved.
The identity of the man will not be released at this time, pending notification of family.
