County 10 spoke with FCSD #6 Business Manager Linda Evans about the ‘School Protein Enhancement Project’ they are participating in.
Evans shared, the grant is through the Wyoming Department of Education, Food Service Department and all school districts are eligible to apply. For the 2019-2020 school year they can accept up to four tax-deductible donations of beef, pork and/or lamb. The grant helps cover the cost of processing the donated meat at a USDA processor. This is the second year FCSD #6 is participating in this program and so far they only have one beef donated.

There are approximately 400 students in FCSD #6 and it is “great to provide students with fresh, local meat,” said Evans. There are two other known school districts in Fremont County that have participated in the program: “Shoshoni and Dubois,” mentioned Evans. County 10 could not confirm Dubois is participating in the program for the upcoming school year.
