    Cowboys back in action at home

    LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 18, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowboys return home for the first time in over a month hosting San Jose State in the Arena-Auditorium in a 7 p.m. start. The Pokes are off to a 13-2 start and are 2-0 in the MW for the best start since the 2014-15 campaign.

    Wyoming heads into the contest on Wednesday with a 13-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in conference play after picking up a 77-67 road win at Nevada on Monday. The Pokes lead the conference in three-point percentage defense at 27 percent, as that number ranks eighth in the nation. The Pokes rank second in the conference in field goal percentage defense at 39 percent. Offensively, the Pokes are adding 9.2 three-point field goals per game, a number that ranks second in the conference.

    The Spartans head to Laramie with a 7-8 overall record and a 0-3 mark in conference play under first year head coach Tim Miles. The Spartans are one of the conference’s top three point shooting teams averaging 10.1 makes per game and shooting 38 percent. SJSU is holding opponents to 44 percent from the field.

    Wyoming is led in scoring by Graham Ike at 20 points per game, a number that leads the MW conference and ranks No. 21 in the nation. He also leads the team grabbing 8.5 rebounds per game to rank fourth in the MW. Hunter Maldonado adds 17.1 points per game to rank eighth in the conference. He leads the team with 6.3 assists per game to rank second in the conference. Drake Jeffries adds 10.5 points per game. He leads the conference and ranks fifth in the nation shooting 49.5 percent from behind the arc.

    San Jose State is led in scoring by Omari Moore at 13.2 points per game. He is shooting 49 percent from the field and ranks second on the team grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game. Trey Smith adds 9.9 points per contest and leads the team with 32 three pointers. Ibrahima Diallo adds 8.3 rebounds per game to lead the team, as he also adds 7.8 points per contest.

    Wyoming leads the all-time series against San Jose State 18-2 in a series that dates back to 1965. Wyoming is winners of 10-straight contests dating back to 2016. The Pokes are 9-0 against SJSU in Laramie.
